About David

Born in Adelaide, Sth Australia, David began to photograph at the age of 16 with a series of portraits for his HSC major work. Initially working with 35mm film and transparency he transitioned to the digital medium in 2008.

David’s 13 solo exhibitions have explored European cities, female nudes, Australian landscapes, macro abstracts and photojournalistic impressions.

“The understanding of natural light is everything for me. My compositions come from patience and a momentary stillness - even within a candid capture. The initial ‘seeing’ is the foundation of an engaging image and the story that can follow. My aim is to compose a photo that has an emotional impact, evokes story, invites contemplation, is compelling , engaging or perhaps visually intriguing. Just one of these is enough to make me feel fullfilled. Sometimes all align.”

David is a qualified Art Therapist , resides in Sydney and has a European base in Croatia. His other passions include Operatic theatre, the South Sydney rabbitohs and the music of Verdi, Bach, Tchaikovsky, Mahler, Eno and Bowie. He swims most days , is inspired by nature and is engrossed in his garden.
